TDC Sensor Fixed...Thank you

I just want to add my thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Like a lot of Scenic owners I have been having intermittent starting problems which my local garage could not solve. I pointed out to them (after reading on this site) that it could be the TDC sensor but they said that it couldn't be that...it must be a main dealer fix!!
Anyway I decided to bite the bullet and tackle the problem myself. I have no knowledge whatsoever of vehicle mechanics and very rarely even open the bonnet. Following your instructions I found the procedure very straight forward. I just removed the air vent pipe, felt for the TDC sensor bolts and removed them with a socket set. A quick wipe and clean, re-fit and as good as new.
My only word of warning for complete novices such as myself......the engine block retains it's heat for a long time so don't burn yourself like I did.!

Thanks to you all again.

Thumbs up TDC Sensor

I recently put a clutch in my daughters' Mk1 Clio, got all back together but it wouldn't start. No spark at plug so I thought "immobiliser" Looked on the forum and saw your thread ref: TDC Sensor, went back and had a look I hadn't refitted connector, put it on VROOM! she's up and running. Many thanks

First off, here is the view from looking over the engine

Secondly, here is the view going into the right hand side of the engine as you look into it

Thirdly, I removed the air box, you don't need to, but it makes access easier and found the TDC

Here it is unbolted...

Simply unclip and replace with the new part.

Old and new...

I know everyone says it's an easy job, and...honestly...it really is!
