Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)

If its not the TDC Sensor, any ideas what it could be?

Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)

Inspite of the engine not starting, if you get a code scanner connected up to it (borrow, buy or garage) -
Then the fault code will be able to read that is stored in the car.

Address that highlighted sector.

I'm not sure whether - If you have disconnected the battery, without attaching a secondary electrical source/gadget - That the code will still be stored.
Suspect not -
However as soon as you attempted to restart the engine - the codes should have been flagged up.

What is illuminated on the dashboard .
'Engine logo with centre STOP' or Engine logo only with a separate SERVICE?

If it is the TDC sensor - a relatively easy fit - assuming your hands are small! If not , then taking off the battery plus battery shelf will be required.

Thanks all!

I'm sure this thread has saved me a fortune. I had the same problem as others; Megane II stalling and draining battery.

Followed the advice above, cleaned the TDC sensor and it now runs perfectly - smoother than it has been for ages.

It really, really is as simple as described (a pain to reach in the Megane, but worth persevering). I just cleaned the sensor with a tissue and a finger nail. If I had to do it again I wouldn't even bother unclipping the electrical connector.

Thanks again,

Andy

It is worth disconnecting as rather than the TDC being dirty it could be the connecter that is slightly corroded causing the problem so just clean that aswell.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !
