Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)

Thanks a lot. Easy but VERY fiddly getting round all the water pipes. Mine needed a quick clean with the wives emery board (must remember to tell her) and problem seems to be gone.

Old one just like you guys'

After conversion, the sensor only cost 10 here while the shunt cable is 30..yes you heard it right, I hd no idea why the shunt cable cost so much more than the sensor itself.
Thank you so much. This has been problematic for me as well. I finally changed the TDC magnetic sensor.

I have a question:
- Is the TDC Magnetic sensor also called crankshaft position A circuit?

I have 2x fault codes p0303 and p0335. One is showing the problem with a sensor and the other is a misfire.

Would appreciate anyone's help please? Or should I post a new thread?

Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)

Hey
I have a clio 1,5 dci 2005 that is hard to start both cold and warm, but when started, it runs great.
I have cleaned my TDC sensor with brake cleaner, a cloth and grade 1000 sandpaper, but it have not helped at all.
Is it likely that the TDC sensor is faulty and need to be replaced or it is another problem?

I decided to try and replace it myself. Failed! It is not mounted like previous models. It is bolted behind part of the gearbox casing right behind the gear change. I managed to get the 2 10mm bolts out. But the sensor could not be lifted high enough to get it clear. In the end I had to just bolt the original one back in position. that was not easy either.

I'm hoping someone has found a way to get it out and fit a new one because it must be one of the hardest parts to change.

Being an Engineer, I really wonder what class of Engineers Car manufacturers use to design these cars. They have no idea of maintainability.
Mine is in the same location. I have a 2001 Renault Megane 1.6. Eventually got it out after about an hour. Was so dirty, gave it a good clean. Now getting it back is a lot harder. After 3 hours, no go. If I got it out, it's gotta go back in there. Eventually ran out of day light. Will try tomorrow again.

Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)

I have an Automatic 2005 Renault scenic j84 mk2. Does it have a TDC sensor? If so where would it be as i cannot find it anywhere. The car is not starting and from what i have tested, it's not the pump. It's cranking but not starting.
