Latest update (apologies for the ramblings):
The nice AA man called today and eventually got me started again. When he arrived the battery was reading 7.1 V and indicating a drain fluctuating between 0.29 and 0.31 amps.
When he put his boost pack on the car still would not turn over and just 'clicked' every few seconds. He then connected up via his van with no change at all. I normally start the car by depressing the clutch and pressing the start button but the brake pedal can also be used. As soon as I swapped to the brake pedal the engine turned over and started - can anyone explain that?
Also, can anyone here tell me whether a drain of 0.30 amp is to be expected for this type of vehicle?
