I may be able to help you with this because I had exactly the same problem.
packs and look where the top of the body just enters the hole.
there should be a groove with an o ring in it to seal the top of the hole.
mine didn't have any o rings fitted, they'd probably rotted and when the plugs were changed the guy who did it didn't know about them.
I had a lot of misfiring and I looked in the Haynes book to see how to get the
out and it said take care with the o rings and I thought what bl++++y o rings.
I fitted some with a smear of grease to ease them in and the trouble went away.
this doesn't stop the original water ingress but it does stop it going in the plug holes.
