Re: Renault Clio - Electronics - Immobiliser issues

I had an immobiliser problem on my previous Clio, a 55-reg dCi, which was similar to many on here.
The central locking would operate normally and open the doors, but the starter would not function at all nor the fuel pump energise. This was accompanied by the immobiliser lamp on the dashboard flashing rapidly. No matter how many times I tried again, the problem persisted.
One day, I had to call the AA to get the car going, which was done by the patrol man hitting the key sharply on the ground. This didn't solve the problem permanently but it meant I could continue to work.
I eventually had both keys replaced at a Renault dealer at vast expense and the problem was cured for a while, but recurred. When I sold the car, it was still touch-and-go as to whether or not it would start - a shame because, this issue apart, reliability had been perfect over 100,000 miles.
