the guy could do the reprogramming but i only had the key code and ignition key code in my booklet, the number i needed is a 12 digit immobiliser number.I rang renault who said they need to send off for the code and only after my car has been on their computer which is the same as the one used today. What i would like to know is if this really is the only way and surely as i own the car i must own the codes does anyone else know anything about this?
They can't refuse to give you the code but they are entitled (if not obliged) to ascertain that you do actually own the car rather than just be in possession of it... so they can ask for provenance.
I suppose in a way it is a good thing since it may deter someone from nicking your motor and simply have some keys made for it.
