OK so that's the tyres but here is a list of common faults to look out for when buying a Laguna II (2001 - 2005 models ) :-

1. Front ball Joint and suspension wear ( tyre wear )
2. Climate Control Panel Backlighting ( does it work )
3. Damage to Volumetric Alarm Sensors ( does the alarm work )
4. Tyre Sensors ( do these work ? )
5. Xenon Lights ( turn them on and leave them on for a while to check they both work and that they are at the correct level )
6. Interior Lights ( do they dim after you open and close a door )
7. Electric Window Mech's ( fragile - check all work without dragging slowly )
8. DCI Engine intercooler & turbo problems ( check service history )
9. Front Bonnet Release ( easy or stiff ? )
10. Engine Under Tray ( check for damage as the oil sump needs this guard - it's very soft aluminium )
11. Steering rack wear ( check play in steering )
12. Trip computer display ( all functions should work - often mpg doe not show up on problematic sensors )
13. The neat plastic triangles on the seat trim often get caught and broken ( give them a gentle tug to check they are secure and undamaged )
14. Lift the head rests to check how dirty the seats are really !! If they are bad you will be able to spot a mile off..

A lot of this stuff is common to all cars but if anyone else want to add any more please do ?

I'll build this sort of information into printable PDF checklists eventually - excellent information to take with you when you are looking round...

These tyres are the Jaguar X type tyres , so are designed with handling in mind.

I've got a set of Kumho ecstas on the front of mine just now, they've lasted a grand total of 3000 miles.. i don't drive particularly fast either.. plenty of motorway miles.

Possible the 2.2 DCi is just too heavy for them but i wouldn't buy them again.

I've decided i would rather spend extra to get Michellins every 30,000 miles than spend 50 less on a cheap tyre that will last a tenth of that..

PS. Wife's 1.5 DCi clio is still on its original michellins after 42,000 miles.. they seem to last forever..
