Renault Laguna 2 - Rear Bushes & MOT*FIXED*

Hi does anyone know if Renault now have an official concession out on the rear axle rubber bushes?

I've just had a close shave with an MOT at the AA Auto centre who said the off side rear rubber bush has started to separate from the bonding, initially the tester said this would be a fail Needless to say I went kind of ballistic after hearing a figure of 300+ mentioned 15 days after the warranty had expired. I made it very obvious I would be taking this up with Renault after 3 years + about 16 days with only 31k on the clock.

While I was calming down the guy disappeared then came back saying he wasn't going to fail it but he put an advisory notice on the car instead.

I then went to Renault to bite some head off saying this shouldn't be happening to a car a frazzle over 3 years old with only 31k on the clock. The service manager said calm down now hondo, we will cover that on the warranty I just don't get it, when does a 3 year warranty end?

I think the deal is that Renault will replace the bushes if they fail an MOT up to the cars 4th or 5th birthday..I suspect your calm words () to Renault persuaded them to replace yours as they were close to failing the MOT.

It's a bit strange that the MOT tester wanted to fail them and then decided not to.Maybe he decided to phone VOSA and they said that a bush has to be completely shot to fail a test..It is one of those things that testers quite often get wrong.A bush that is de-bonding or splitting is not a reason to fail a car....

Rear axle bushes failed on my 52 reg Lag II 2.2 DCi. 67k. renault picked it up at the service..

Parks Renault in Ayr haveThey've quoted me 150 all in for replacement

44.38 inc vat for the parts and 109 inc vat for the labour.. they give a discount on the job due to the age of the car.

They're going to have a look at the front end too and see if they can sort out the clunking when changing direction.. suspect rod ends.. i'll let you know the final cost..
