Your main worry is if the turbo seals have gone and are letting oil through to the engine. How much oil is it getting through?

On the 1.9 the EGR is at the back of the engine. Remove the plastic engine cover to get a good look - there should be loads of pics on the forum if you search.

Edit: here you go:-
laguna 1.9dci black smoke

To remove the egr use some penetrating oil like plusgas and a punch. Having undone the 3 bolts give it a knock with the punch on the corner then more penetrating oil . Eventually you'll get some movement and it can be wiggled free then out with a schlopp Be careful to take it slowly or it can break in two. Clean with carb cleaner. Also clean the channel it fits in and refit with copper grease to make removal easier next time.

Talking Vibrating noise Laguna 1.9dci

I've recently changed the Air Mass Meter and that didn't work. It's also smoking like Bob and caning the diesel.
Where is the egr and how do you get it off and how do you clean it?
best regards
The vibrating noise may be the upper engine mounting which is located at the drivers side. Mine has gone but I've not replaced it yet. The vibration is when the engine is under load and because the rubber mount has failed you are hearing metal to metal contact. It's only held on by two bolts but costs around 90. Hope this helps

Hi all, i have a problem with loss of power from the engine.
The car runs fine until i hit a slight incline and suddenly the engine management light comes on and i lose all power the only way to accelerate is to drop down gears until i can get the revs above 3k. Once i restart the engine it works fine again until i hit another incline.

I have had it in to the renault dealer they have changed the air flow meter and fitted a new egr valve as they bust the old one removing it. None of this has solved the problem any ideas?

EGR Cleaner

I have read this thread with interest and have had the same symptons on my Tourer. Having had various diesels and cleaned the EGR valves with carb and brake cleaner, I spoke to a mate who's an independent mechanic and he told me they use a product made by Wynns specifically to clean the EGR valve and he was quite surprised to find out I had used other products as the valve is silicon lined to improve smooth airflow and these other cleaners remove this lining.
I will be cleaning mine shortly with this cleaner and will post up my results to let you know if it works.
