Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Wheels and Tyres - Seized Rear Brake Calipers

Hi to all

I did find on one of the threads on here some while a pictorial how to. It was based on an Audi caliper but it was very similar. It will be obvious why you need to wind back the pistons. But you may be better off getting the caliper refrbished by some company like Bigg Red.

Hope this helps all.

Seized Rear Brake Calipers

i had worn rear pads(down to the metal) on mk 2 laguna dci privelige, new pads in, posts clean and dust removed not to mention bleeding of system but each when hand brake cable is attached the brakes bind and as ever get hot, i managed to return pistons, and since i have had a lot of messing i have now retracted the pistons several time. I had to use the car for a 300 plus journey all be it in 100 mile trips so they have well bedded in as some optimists may suggest and because of the heat i have had to bleed them for piece of mind, the hand brake levers on calipers seem to work but they then seem to stop the brakes from freeing up?? so for the time being i have disconnected hand brake cable from with in vechile? and brakes seem nice and cool. any ideas
