The original manual (or should I say leaflet?) didn't really tell you an awful lot beyond the most basic of basics. I'm also not sure where you'd get one.
But the good news is that Carminat is really just a customised version of VDO Dayton's MS 5000 unit. The MS 5000 manual is available for download, and while there are differences between that and Carminat, it'll give you a much better idea of how to work the thing than the Renault documentation ever would.
