An interesting one.
When entering the car the lights come on, ok so far, the card is inserted, the lights go off, ok so far, some leaves the car, the lights come on, ok so far, the door is closed, the lights stay on, not ok, .The only way now to turn off the lights is to stop the engine remove the card and then restart the engine.
Everything works fine untill untill any door is opened, has anyone any clues?
ps my speedo is now replaced at a cost of £465, £365 for the unit the rest fitting, which took no time at all, approx an hour, BY MY LOCAL RENAULT DEALER. LAGUNA by the way

Done the intererior light fix today:d....... The only thing i had to do was make a new plastic arm. mine when clued into position would not reach micro switch. After a half hour of sanding a new bit of plastic i found in the garage down to size. It was done and works a treat. This is a job worth doing i think. Alot easier than i thought. Thanks for posting this up buddy.

Hi mate, your problem is your card reader, inside there are some microswitches, if you look at your keycard, you'll see marks where the switches touch the card, the switches are covered by plastic arms which push down on the switches when you insert the card, one of these arms will have snapped off, now you have a choice here, buy a new or used card reader, they don't have to be coded to your any reader will do, new, close to £200, or used about £50, or repair like i did, if you remove the reader from the car, this is quite simple, just pull the ashtray out and then the reader, prise it apart, shake out the broken arm, there are 3 switches in there, 2 will be covered by the arms on one will not, I just superglued the arm directly to the switch as I could'nt glue it back where it came from and it worked fine after that, try this and see how you go.

Hello all,
I have a similar problem. My interior lights are not switching off anymore,at all.Not even after I start the engine or after I close the car from key card.I can only shut them down putting the switches on off position.
I mention that I have repaired the micro switch from the card reader and it is working ok now. Also all the doors are detected and shown as closed. The lights from the doors are also working ok, they are switching on and off when I open/close the door.
Please let me know if you have experienced similar problems or if you have some ideas.
Many thanks

Hi all,

I have this exact problem interior lights not dimming if you open door and close it again while motor is running. As said before only way to turn them off is stop and restart engine.also have lost accessory setting with card part way in.nothing comes on now until card fully home.

My question is how hard is this to do for a novice? or should i buy another card reader?

Thanks

Hi All,

Bit of an update had card reader out and apart, piece of plastic was too short to glue back so went for the cable tie method.
Appears to have worked as i now have radio coming on with card halfway in :d
However door open warning lights and courtesy lights don't come on at all now with engine running. My question being is this related or another seperate problem?

Thanks again

Quick question related to this topic. When I drive at night and get to my destination, I press the Start/Stop button to Stop. I kind of expected the interior lights to come on at that point but they don't. I thought they used to in my Megane II. So I pull out the keycard (I have the basic version not the handsfree) and still no interior lights. Opening the driver's door makes them all come on.

I need to hold in my start button to start - but I can put up with that.

Question is - should my interior lights come on when I pull out the keycard, or before that when I press STOP. Or am I looking for a feature that simply isn't there!

** FIXED ***
Hi Folks,

Firstly - thanks a lot to the former user who posted the pictures of how to do this repair. I just pulled my card reader apart and found the broken piece of plastic exactly as described. Attaching it back was more tricky, as my superglue, despite being brandd new, just would not stick. Every time I inserted the card it broke again. So I decided to cut a small piece of duck tape and tape the plastic piece back in place that way. It works a treat! I can now start the car with a little tap of the start button, and my courtesy lights come on as soon as I pull out the card. Job Done!

Just saved myself £20 on a s/hand reader (that also had same fault I was trying to remedy!) and all it cost me in total was £1.29 for a 4pk of superglue & 30 minutes!:d That bit of plastic was rattling about inside the readers casing. Just glued it back in place with the card inserted and it now touches one of the little red micro switches perfectly, fading my lights after anybody has got in/exited the car! PERFECT!!!

L2O, where ever you may now be, YOU are a GENIUS!!!! I found the plastic strip, but mine was way too short, so, in reading thru further posts elected to glue the flat square side of the strip bobble direct to the microswitch with a tiny dab of super glue.....bonded instantly!! works perfectly
 we're not worthy..we're not worthy..
For those needing a shortcut to the original fix post, with pictures, please goto page 4 post #19 and read from there.

cheers

Hi Guys, has anyone still got the video for this repair. The link seems to be dead.

Thanks

dont need video mate its easy, pull ashtray out, lightly pull on card reader and that pops out, the rest is in photos,

Ive just done it myself, be aware though there is 2 microswitches, and i misunderstood the photos and assumed there was one, for positioning look on the circuit board their red, cant miss em, once youve glued something on, wait until its dry, clip the board back in and try inserting card make sure it goes in and out ok.

I should know, did mine 10 minutes ago :d:d

Hi all, i also have problem with my lights footwell lights:
I replaecd the small plastic in reader,i can start the car with only touching the START but problem is:

-I have no footwell lights i have checked both of my wires give me positive lead as no - ,my door lights(inside doors) are working well, sensors are ok,no dimming lights no automatic roof lights they work when i turn them manually, only problem is that i cant get to manage damn fronr foot lights to start,

Is there any fuse(i have checked all driver fuses) , anybody have a solution?.

I was thinking to retrofit my door lights and connect them with footwell lights, but problem remains that i have positive lead and can short circuit something..:)
