Wink replaced wiper motor

HI ,When I got my Lag tourer II the rear wiper did not work.(surprise) So I opened the glass bit and tried to move the wiper ,it was seized solid. And when I tried the motor it did not work although there was power to it.
I sprayed some ACF onto the spindle after removing the circlip and kept trying it over the next few days and eventually got the wiper to move .
I went to spares 24/7 to look for a wiper motor but there was only one which they wanted 125 + 20 p&p for
So I kept looking on ebay and I spotted a Clio one which had the same motor but a different mounting bracket.I got it for 11.50 +p&p 5.83 !!!
Just swapped the mountings and hey presto it fits and works ,BUT the first time I tried it the Glass flexed because the spindle was still very tight. So the next job is to remove the wiper and spindle and fettle them.
When I get My puller .
I can see that if the wiper is switched on and the arm is seized then it could very easily cause the glass to shatter under the pressure, especially if moving over a bumpy surface.

Take care y'all

Hi all
This is a common problem on the Laguna as far as I am concerned .Unfortunately, I own two of these monsters and have had a broken rear screen on both .On both occasions the vehicle was garaged overnight and so there was no outside perpetrators possible .I spoke to Renault and they just told me to claim my insurance, so no point in taking it any further as they are not interested. They claim that there is not and never has been a rear window problem with the Laguna Estate model.

My advice to any long suffering Laguna owners is to have the best possible glass insurance cover --- because there is a very strong possibility that you are going to need it!

53 Laguna Rear Screen

Hi All,
Just a short response upholding what I have read within this thread.
For no apparent reason, the rear screen of my Lag shattered, not another car in sight and a fairly good road surface, I had not had the rear screen "open" or the rear hatch for that matter, for some time.
If this is happening to a number of cars, then its about time we asked the question, "Is this component fit for purpose?"
Regards All

hi, mine (06 ph2) also exploded some months ago....claim ongoing with renault at present.

the shutting part of the glass sounded very grainy and never really closed properly - suggest the struts are ineffective at closely glass exactly flush - lot of stress on the locking plate.

do report it to renault - just think what if that had happened at speed, i know i'd have sh*t myself and possibly crashed!

luckily my car was in the office carpark when it went - fortunately, no dog in boot.
