I tried the reset and then tried to close the window by an inch at a time. By pulling the window with one hand and working the button with the other I got it closed easily enough. I had to rock the window a little to encourage it but its fixed temporarily. Some one said there is a safety feature whereby if the window on the way up meets any resistance "a childs hand etc" it immediatly goes into reverse......
I an not sure if its fixed permanently or not but I will keep you informed....

I had a problem with the rear window regulator cable fraying and snapping on a mk II granada back in the early 90s and i did repair it with new cable (think its called bowden cable) from the local hardware/bike shop, ford wanted 80 at the time, it was quite a fiddley job to do but it worked ok,

Two weeks later some theiving *******s nicked the car and wrote it off

Anyway getting back on subject about lag II regulators do you think we should be greasing or oiling these drive cables every couple years or so to stop the corrosion, don't know how awkward this would be, not had the door to bits yet on the lag as there is nothing wrong yet, its always said prevention is better than a cure, in this case it would be a lot cheaper.
Currently in polecat's garage:

Polecat - oiling the cables would lead to streaky windows but I concurr with your thoughts that prevention is better than cure.. Maybe Renault Technical could comment ?
