Great thread guys (although I'm not sure if the pics have been removed or never materialised). Anyway, spent about an hour and a half this afternoon getting the card off and removing the old regulator. As soon as it was out it was obviously just the cable as it was all frayed. I clipped the frayed ends gave it a good oil and crossed my fingers. All appeard to be working fine however just as I was about to refit the reg the tension proved to much and the cable snapped! Bummer. Anyway I've decided that I've now got nothing to lose so i'm gonna try and replace the cable myself before I have to buy a new reg.

Did anyone ever manage to get a step by step guide (including pics) on how to do this? I would really appreciate any help as, following the snapped cable, I have no idea how to piece the thing back together.

I had a go at fixing my broken window myself using the instructions in this post and after many hours spent and sore fingers gave up on it. so i decided to look on ebay for a new reg and found the ebay repair guy magicknight mentioned.

It turns out he lives in the same town as me so i dropped it off on saturday and he returned it this am, which i thought was pretty good of him - i fitted it today and it now works better than it ever has! I can't believe Renault charge 200 for a new one

The ebay listing is here :

I was aware of the guy on ebay but thougth I'd have a go myself first. Dan's comments put me off the DIY option and I did end up using the ebay man. I cannot recommenrd him highly enough. Great quick service. Anyway window all fixed and working well.

Thanks to all for your help and advice.

Hi,

The front passenger side window of my 2001 Laguna II 3.0L Initiale no longer shuts all the way unless I repeatedly operate the switch. Also, if I operate it until it shuts all the way, it sometimes opens again all on its own! Resetting it doesn't work.

From reading this thread I suppose the window electronics are faulty and need replacement.

So, two questions:

1. I've read about 2 pin and 6 pin connectors. Mine has a 29 way plug with 17 pins in it. I've had a look at the Renault tis cd and it appears that this type is only fitted to models with the memory electric drivers seat. Have they really put the seat memory in the window regulator!!!

2. Any suggestions of where to get a repair or a replacement without making Renault even richer..

Cheers
Andy
