the 6 pin unit and the 29 pin unit are interchangeable by just unplugging, there are four plastic clips that hold the units on to the motor and you will see that the motor only has a 2 pin plug. the guy on e Bay repairs broken cables but if you have a faulty regulator I'm afraid that it could get complicated (and expensive) as I found out, A main dealer could not identify which window mech I needed despite me showing them a photo of the 29 pin reg they could only find 2 mechs in their parts list a 2 pin and a 6 pin type, it was only the fact that my cable had snapped and the reg was ok that I got a 6 pin replacement and swapped the regulators. There are a couple of sellers on e Bay who will supply complete mechs but only the 2 or 6 pin types your only other chance is a breaker

Exclamation E-bay repair service

well recently both front window regulators on my laguna snapped there cabels . After researching the options available to get the windows to full working order.

1. Pay Renault 400.00 for 2x regs
2. Buy the units you can get hold of for 80.00
3. Use the chap on e-bay who has a repair service

I opted for the repair service, the guys name is Neil and he charges 40 per regulator. Well what can i say I simply cannot praise this man enough for his service and workmanship absolutley fantastic, Both regulators i took out of my car were in an awful mess. However they were sent back to me like new fully greased up and ready to put straight back in. I cannot recommend this man highly enough!! if you need your regs fixing Neil is the chap.

Would like to say a big thankyou to you Neil, you saved me a fortune.

Thumbs up Just finished...

Just had to replace the regulator on the drivers side of the Laguna. Actually a really easy job as mentioned previously in the thread.

I didn't have time to wait for a cheapo one off ebay or to send it to the nice guy who fixes them so i had to bite the bullet and pay renault for the part.

Just thought i'd upload a few pics of the old and new regs to show the proper routing of the cables. might help those going for the repair option.

Now that i've got the old one out i might try to repair it anyway and see whats involved..

Anyway, here's the pics..

Old Snapped Cable..

How it should look..

Good one from the back to show proper cable routing..

And finally, close up of the correct way to coil the new cable round the motor..

Hope this helps.

I had this problem some time ago. An AA man held a duster over the top of the window and wound it up hard trapping the duster. Window has worked well ever since.

Reconditioned Window Mechanism

I have sourced a garage in Garvagh Northern Ireland who can supply reconditioned kits for electric windows for the laguna at a fraction of the prices main dealers will charge. i had pproblems last year and found it relatively easy to fit the new kit.

Sorry I lost his number but it should be in the yellow pages or 120 for reconditioned kit
