Megane window faults

The window on the driver door of my 03 plate megane has completely dropped and won't go back up again on its own. Ive pulled it up by hand got it taped up just now so the rain doesn't get in. Is this a regulator fault? When you try the switch u can here a noise as if the motor is actually working. I took the door panel off and it does look like its the regulator that is broke. I got quoted off Renault for 300 to fix but if it is just the regulator I can buy this off ebay for like 45, how easy would the job be to do myself?

If you got the door card off you are half way there. Usually the cable snaps which is probably why you hear the motorm but the window does'nt move. New mechanisms are cheaply avaiolable from eBay just check on the one you need. Just locate the fixing bolts, unclip the glass from the mechanism and lift it out then undo the bolts and lift out the old mech. You may have to swap over the old motor but that is relatively easy and the rest is just the reverse of what you have done
