It started with a bit of a grating noise but now the drivers door window doesn't function at all but it does drop down when going over speed humps or rough roads. It can be pulled back up manually but if I try and use the switch it just makes a noise but does nothing

cables snapped, either buy one off ebay or get it repaired. i got mine repaired by a guy called neil danner, he did a great job and send a step by step guide with photo's for taking it out etc, he will give you all the help you need, total cost about 55 read through the the earlier threads and you will get the the full sp and get into the comfort zone, if you still need help just get back

MIKE4369 you've given some good info here. I removed the door card yesterday from my 2002 Laguna II and found the tangled, frayed cable of the window mechanism (6 pin). I've removed the offending mechanism and wedged the window in place.
I e-mailed Marcus Bailey's website and asked for a price for "driver's side front window regulator mechanism and cables" and they have e-mailed back a quote of 43 + P&P for brand new. Does this sound about right for the bits I need (I just remember some earlier posts talking about 70 and being told that this might not be the right thing as it sounded too cheap)?
Hope you can assist.
