Haven't had time to read the whole thread I'm afraid, but wondered if anyone could help.

I have a knackered front passenger window mechanism (see my post here Electric Window Problem).

My worry was that the window might fall down of it's own accord. I can't get it repaired for a few days so am worried that it will drop when parked in a public place and invite thiefs.

Any way, I managedf to get the window up an inch at a time and it now seems very firmly closed.

I read at the early part of this thread that there is an up and down cable. Can I assume since my window seems firmly up and indeed since it went up at all, that the up cable is OK and as long as I leave well alone it will stay up?

Thanks in advance

it took a couple of wks between my window (driver door) making a crutching noise and the glass finally dropping into the door.....in that time i was using the car every day and had the window down most days....the glass only dropped when one day my dad opened the window fully right down.....i should think it might be okay and will hopefully stay up for you as long as you dont have the window down or slam the door........tho i can see how your concerned i had my window duck tapped for wks till i could get it fixed which got me some strange looks and it does leave a horrible mark on the rubber of the door

Thanks for the reply. I am getting lifts to work several days and not using that door at all so hopefully it will hold. I have some duct tape in the car so if it looks dodgy at any point I will tape it up (though I really don't want to!).
