Re: Renault Laguna II - Interiors - Electric Window Problems - Regulator Repairs

Hello guys, just got my kit off ebay but i bought the complete unit that just bolts straight in. I didnt bother with the cable kit as i have tried to do one before and i gave up as they are a right pain. It took me 15 mins to fit and the window works fine now so if i was giving advice DONT buy the cables as for the extra 15 it costs to get the unit you will save your self a lot of time and hastle.

Cool Re: Renault Laguna II - Interiors - Electric Window Problems - Regulator Repairs

The passenger door window was making crunching noises then stopped all together! I managed to ease the door panel a little and saw what looks like one of the cables has come away from the motor. It appears to just push in then is held by 2 plastic lugs. I just couldn't get my arm in to put it back. Though it did look rusty. So my question is how do I remove the "door opening cable" from the back of the card so I can remove it. I thought I would ask first as I will only force it in frustration. The car is a, 2002 2.2 cdi Laguna sport estate.

Taking the door card off is easy but needs care - it's held on with 3 (IIRC) screws 2 at the bottom and one in the handle recess. Then gently prise the card off (its held on with mastic). Once its off you can see the window mechanism. If the cable has snapped (usual fault) then its off to *bay to get another. If the motor is ok it's a simple swap to the new mech motor is held on with screws. Getting the glass off the old mech is a matter of patience - its held on by 2 plastic wedges. Use tape to hold it in the half open position to stop it falling to the botton of the door. Rest is just a reverse of dismantling. All this info and more is here on the forum just takes a few mins to find it.

Re: Renault Laguna II - Interiors - Electric Window Problems - Regulator Repairs

Have just been through this with my Laguna Estate. I bought the kit from ebay (about 20) which needed the cable to be sized and cut to length (!) - excellent quality package, BUT with mine the pulley wheel was quite damaged at the point where one of the cables anchors and after only a couple of uses the cable popped off.

So I bit the bullet and bought a replacement regulator w/o motor from an excellent seller on ebay who specialises in these for all the main manufacturers for 37. Took me half an hour to fit (including taking door apart and re-fitting. Well worth the extra expense.

Fro anyone thinking of using the repair kit I would advise checking that the pulley wheel is not too damaged as it's hard to find these for sale anywhere.

As far as the door handle/opening cable goes - I managed to re-attach this with no problem both times - I just held the door handle in the closed position and clipped the cable attachment back on to the back of the door panel (it unclips really easily), checked it worked and then refitted the rest of the bits and pieces.
