it is possible to unclip the glass with the windows up.there are two plasic clips that just push off then you can remove the glass from the door and remove the regulator.did it with my laguna 2 the other day and it only took hour and half to remove and replace everything.might be best to wedge the glass or get someone to hold it though, just in case.

The same thing happens when I try to raise the window, it only goes up 3 or 4 inches then stops.

anyone else had this problem ? is it the switch at fault ?

cheers

Re: Renault Laguna II - Interiors - Electric Window Problems - Regulator Repairs

This has been seriously helpful to read. Thanks folks.

I've just bought a 2005 Laguna 2 litre which has slow windows when the engine is off. They seem ok when engine is running so I never spotted the issue when buying the car.

Anyhow after reading this I'm going to clean and grease both sides before the cables fail.

By the way, I have found ordinary chain saw oil to be a fantastic anti rust coating. Its sticky and eventually polymerises so no good as a lubricant but its amazing for protecting metal. I put a test strip of bare steel outside for 3 months. the uncoated area was rusty. I cleaned off half of the oiled are and left it another 3 months. The steel was still protected. By now the oily bit was getting sticky but no rust.

Re: Renault Laguna II - Interiors - Electric Window Problems - Regulator Repairs

I've just done the driver's door. It's quite fiddly to get the trim panel off, but I got there. There are 2 torx head screws under the door bin and one behind a circular cover in the door handle slot. I used a paint scraper to protect the door frame while I levered the trim panel off.

The mirror switch requires the door handle to be removed there are three hidden torx screws.

The windows switch panel will prise out carefully. Its not 2 spring clips either side and one each end so be careful.

The winder cables need to be greased and the pulleys at the top need to be oiled. The pulleys on mine were noisy.

I removed and cleaned the check strap rollers and arm. Grease was causing the sprung rollers to skid so they clacked into the part open detent slot.

I also sprayed derusting fluid into the door bottom. Not WD40 as that evaporates. I used a spray from frost.co.uk. Chain saw oil thinned with white spirit is also good though it can be messy.

Make sure all holes in the panel are taped over with gaffa tape and sponge in the holes and it can all go back on. Dont forget to reconnect the door lock lever and to replace the door light bulb holder into its housing.
