There is usually an "allen key" method for shutting the sunroof if the motor fails. Not sure if or where this is on the Laguna but usually somewhere near the switch, if you can remove a panel cover there may be an allen key slot. It should tell you in the manual if there is a manual method of closing the roof. Using an allen key will mean "hundreds" of turns on the spindle - but at least the roof should shut.
Before the roof stopped was it slow or sluggish to operate? If the runners/mechanism wasn't well lubricated this would cause extra strain on the motor - which may have burnt out.
