Thumbs up Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Interiors - Sports Tourer rear tailgate switches - A how to + fix !!

renault laguna sports tourer estate 51 plate. can anyone advice me if they have had any problems with their boot opening?
our boot keeps locking and wont open again with the fob, i have to climb inside and open it. the rear boot window is also supposed to open but the same problem with that. we took it to a local garage who told us that it was the boot motor, but when we took it home and tested the motor it works perfectly, the boot has now started opening sometimes but only when it wants to. any ideas or suggestions?

Excuse if I am teaching you to suck eggs here but...

You have to click the fob once to unlock the drivers door only and then click and hold the unlock fob to open the other doors and boot..

If that does n't work try suggestions below

had this with mine, remove the black switch from tailgate ,disconnect both terminals(can only go back together one way)clean the contacts with emery cloth/nail file /matchbox striker etc until its shiny then reassemble.
had to do mine again about two weeks later but this time had to "build up "the contacts with solder as they hsd burnt away due to poor contact and water ingress
allow 20 minutes
good luck

Unhappy Laguna II tourer estate door

Wonder if anyone knows what the problem could be with the main estate door (not the window hatch) not opening when the switch is pressed?. I can open it manually with a screw driver by opening the window hatch and sliding the manual catch on the latch without any effort.

This appears to be a fairly common fault on earlier Laguna II tourers - it is due to water ingress - if you can remove the cover and apply some wd40 type cleaner and "clean the contacts" with some fine wet/dry, fibreglass pencil it should be ok.

Apparently there is also a mod out which Renault have fitted to later cars to help prevent this and also if you go to a dealer with this fault on an older car they will carry out the mod. Unfortunately as yours is an 02 model it will be out of warranty - they will charge you. Try the wd40 and see how you get on.
