Had my Laguna 2.0dCi for 2 weeks now and just noticed a problem with it, (I think?)
The accelerator pedal has 2 stages
It's smooth all the way for about 3/4's of the pedals travel where it feels like I've hit the stop but if I apply alot more pressure then it does go all the way to the deck.
I've been driving it round thinking that I'm using full throttle (where safe!) but I've still got 1/4 of the pedals travel left.
This seems wrong to me as none of my other Renaults have been like this.
Can any one confirm if this is indeed a fault or correct for my car.
Would a new throttle potentiometer fix it?
Hi Ian ,I have a similar problem on my Initial Sports Tourer which I think is becoming quite dangerous.
I also get this rather odd fell to the accelerator whereby it travels to what appears its floored position. If you put a little more pressure the pedal travels a further 25%!! a bit odd I think.
Renault say's its normal.
Now for the dangerous bit. Yesterday I had a full load of passengers which required more throttle to accelerate and when I de-clutched to change gear the rev's hit the rev limit maximum and I notice that the throttle pedal had remained down.
Unfortunately because I was travelling at 25 mph the clever electronic start /stop circuits prevented the engine from being switched off until I was stationary. Quite good because the power steering would have ceased to function whilst I was moving.
I have not found any reason why the throttle stays down yet.
I can only say that it has nothing to do with the mat because it can't more if the two fixings are in place but I have removed the mat whilst I do more checks.
So watch this spce.
I hop this helps Brian
