Cool. I thought for a moment you meant you could upload new voices a la TomTom...

So, the car needs to move for a while....that explains it. At the moment its just sitting on my drive, got to get the tax tomorrow. I have just been pressing different buttons and reading the manuals.

I found that strange too Horatio, you can disable the ESP and get a voice warning, but you can't re-enable from the same button. It re-enables when you start the car the next time.

Just looked at my sat nav, the disc inside is a cd-r (got to be a copy), which must be the data disc and thats it, I need a software disc then to change the voice. Off to eBay then or would anyone send me a copy of theirs, I will pay version is 2002, but I don't know. Where can I check what version I have?

Thanks for all you help so far....I though something was broken....

sat nav voice

if you go on setting on the sat nav you can change the voice from there. Also the speaker with the line through is sat nav voice off, press C on the front panel to hear the annoying voice agian. I find it's much better on split screen with the voice turned off, saves the radio or CD from being interupted.

EG, I have started the car and pressed the "repeat message" key, it says (welcome, the vehicle's computer blah blah blah), then I open the door, nothing happens but when I press the "repeat message " key, it says (the right front door is open), but I hear no beep or message. The "discrete" key is not depressed.
Hi I have a 52 2003 Laguna Initiale 2.2 DCI Sports Tourer , and I don't get any of the above voices messages, how do I turn the voice synthesiser on ????

If the car has it, then there will be a two button switch on the dash (next to the ESP button), one with a picture of a speaking face on it, and the other with a 'mute' symbol (crossed out loudspeaker.) If you don't have these switches, then you don't have the voice synth. If you do have the system but the mute button is pressed in, it'll chime whenever something happens and you'll have to press the other button for the spoken version.

I'm not exactly sure when, but they seemed to drop the voice synth sometime during either 02 or 52 (my 02 has it, but a colleague's 52 doesn't.) I'm not sure why they took it off, but I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it steals the speaker that's used by the pre-wired handsfree. On the latest models, the speaker has gone completely - it has been replaced with the switch for the automatic parking brake.

I like the voice synth and I'm going to miss it. I reckon it saved the engine on one of my RXE's when it suddenly lost all coolant. It's not that I don't periodically check the gauges, but this thing shot up into the red in a matter of minutes after some motorway debris hit the water pump. The voice told me to "stop the car, let the engine idle for 60 seconds and then switch off" so I did.
