I must say im not really happy with MPG im getting with this car.
I get between 45 - 47MPG on mainly A roads and a bit of city driving.
I done same kind of driving with my old car that was a VW Golf mk4 1.9 diesel engine and i was getting around 53MPG. I just put it down to the Renault Laguna is a bigger car then the Golf. I plan to keep the Renault for couple of years but next time I do my homework on my next car i will be looking at the MPG on the younger Renaults on this site and others and if they are still not much better then other makes I may choose a VW again.

I reset my mpg computer at the top of a very long hill, knocked it out of gear and hit 97.4 mpg on the way down.
Usually I get between 42 & 47 mpg (50/50 town and A road, 2002 Sportstourer 120bhp, 112,000mls) but as xcusme stated earlier in the thread, I get more miles per tank full of Shell or BP fuel than I do any supermarket fuel and more economy in the summer.

Best yet 56 (that is between 70&80 in 6th gear ).
Rather inconsistent innit ?

Just had all four glowplugs replaced by renault as I reported bad return on fuel economy and one showed up on diagnostic as fault .
Waiting to see if its made much difference will report later on results
Why should the glow plugs have anything to do with economy? This is not a very professional response to your problem.

It may well be that there was a faulty glow plug but yours is a compression ignition engine and the glow plugs are not spark plugs in a petrol engine. I would not expect to see a difference in mpg on that. More probable would have been a reprogramming of the injection system. Was this mentioned?
