On my VS, you would have the ave mpg displayed on the screen, and push down the button on the stalk until it changes - don't know if its similar on your car.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

please / thankyou!!
RESET Select mpg, button on end of wiper controls, Press reset button, black button sticking out of display when showing mpg.

I drive 1.9 DCI 120 bhp on average I get around 40 mpg long journeys as I do over take slower traffic when opportunity arises. Around town about 34 mpg. Iím happy with this as it a good mixture of mpg vs performance.
I reckon if I drove with less pressure on the skinny pedal I could better these figures.
If I reset the trip while driving on motor way it shows mid 50ís mpg @ 70mph in 6th going down a slight incline 60 + mpg and going up a slight incline it will drop back to 50 but I donít consider this a true reflection of average miles as obviously the turbo isnít getting a chance to have a good drink of diesel.... lol To get a true reflection of average mpg it must be measured over time.
When I accelerate the turbo comes in to its own drinking diesel as it accelerates the car to the desired speed and this has to eat into the mpg. So unless some of you are driving on a round circuit never breaking or accelerating I canít see even the most careful driver getting more than 50.
My reported miles per gallon is reflected at the fuel pumps when I fill up.

(it actually hit 53.3mpg once i parked back at home) WOW!!!!!.....

now i thought this was B/S, so i took it from Norwich to London & back yesterday (some 300 mile round trip) & it cost me £15 in diesel & its still above the reserve now..

i LOVE this engine ....SUPER efficient!!

if you have a diesel, grab a chip...

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

How did you calculate the mpg. Was it by brim to brim filling or going by the onboard computer.

Remember the onboard computer does not measure actual fuel flow - it extrapulates its figures based on electrical signals in the fuel sytem. So by adding any additional electronic gizzmos into the system the computer figures are likely to be out of kilter.

It would be nice to see actual brim-to-brim calulations for comfirmation and if it's as good as you say letting other members know the exact make and model of the chip would be a great help.

I just hope the chip isn't leaning the engine out too far or engine damage can occur. I've seen the result of many of these "efficiency" or "performance" chips and its often a damaged engine caused by over/under fuelling.
