Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I bought my 2004 Laguna II 1.9dCI on Fri 13th and after a week of going to work and back, a journey of around 60 miles each way my MPG works out at 49.1

The car had been unused since around Feb 2012 (When the last MOT & Tax expired) so I wasn't expecting too much. I filled the tank at Tesco because in my previous two cars, tesco fuel returned similar mpg as shell & BP and a lot more than Marrisons or Sainsburys.

On my runs to and from work which is about 95% mortorway I set the cruise control at 72mph (this is really 70mph according to my SatNav). At the next fill I entered the details into my fuel consumption spreadsheet which calculated the final MPG. The on board computer returned 47.8 mpg.

Details were....

Miles Travelled = 472
Liters purchased = 43.78 (9.63 Gallons)

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

Can i ask what im doing wrong. I got my dci last weekend, it was smoking badly (black smoke) and was getiing just 27.2mpg!. Have since fitted a new air filter, diesel filter, cleaned the egr (have now removed the solined the move the valve du to still have hesitation issues) i have just returned from a 50mile drive up and down the motorway and it has crept up to 30.3mpg but would like to see at least the low 40s.

I cannot get it to shift above that.

I donít go over 2k on the revs when driving around town.
The only time it is at constant 2k or over is on the motorway.

It is costing me too much to run the car. At this rate if that is all i am going to get its going to force me to sell up.

I am just wondering if this is correct for the eng / car?

Thanks

Chris
Hi mate,

Something is wrong there, iget around 40 -41 mpg round town upto 61 mpg on a run the 1.9 is one of the cheapest cars ive had to run,

when ifirst got mine it was crap on Mpg, 29 -to mid 30s
ichanged the oil /airfilter and put some fuel treatment in the tank its been briliant ever since,

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I thought that, I've only had the car 2 days but it's gone from bad to worse now, the turbo has just gone bye bye on me aswell, the mpg was reading that but when looking at the miles to go till I needed more petrol it was hardly moving, I left the house with it saying 261 miles to go till petrol then went to work an back and said 255 miles to go till petrol needed, I've never had a diesel so woulnt no what to expect???

Also how do I start a thread cuz want advise over the turbo ?? Thanks mate
