That way, not only are you obtaining a true mpg figure for comparing with other owners - you will also obtain a base-line for monitoring progress, and either confirming the accuracy of the computer & gauge (or otherwise).

There's no point in chasing phantoms, when they may not actually be present.

HTH,

That's a good point. Will do that and see how it goes. I bought this form my brother who often remarked on fuel efficient it had been for him, but don't know if he actually used the gauge at all.

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

Hi,
I've had mine for 2 years now and I've averaged 46 mpg for the 60,000 miles I've covered.
The mpg does drop around town and in cold weather, but the 46mpg takes that into consideration as well.

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I reset the MPG before setting out this evening for home, which is about 30min of motorway and 10 of urban stop start. It steadily climbed to 49.5 before I turned off the motorway and in the urban stop start went down to 43. So, I suppose that's not bad.

I have ordered a can of Wynn's EGR cleaner as I noticed when I cleaned the EGR valve that the inlet manifold was very gunked up. I'll give it a clean and see if that improves things further.

I'de recommend using good quality fuel and Comma Diesel D-tox and do some Italian tuning. I.E Put a full bottle in 20 litres of diesel and take it for a blast keeping in around 4000 revs but using full throttle when possible.
As the time goes on mine just got better and better.
