Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I bought my 1.9 dci Laguna last weekend after my 1.9 scenic failed.

Most of my mileage is motorway cruising (600+ miles per week).

I will admit to being rather impressed. The old scenic was achieving 42-45mpg average. The newer Laguna (143000miles on the clock) is averaging between 48-54mpg, tending to be on the higher side if traffic allows. With the larger tank, I can cruise all week without a refuel.

The previous owner did tell me that he had the DPF removed and engine remapped and that this had improved the performance and economy.

Happy Days

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I do a 35 mile trip to my wifes work and back twice a day, the kids to school ( the car doesnt even get hot) and a run to visit family once a month ( 180 mile round journey not including running around while we are there.)There is more often, than not four people in the car and on the monthly family visit the dog plus a weekends luggage as well. That works out at roughly an average of 400 miles a week. I would say 60% dual carraigeway, 20% town 20% B road.I have only had the car for three (cold) weeks but so far i am averaging 52 MPG.This far surpasses my previous car, a 406 HDi, a car which i believe in its early days was known well for good economy? As a comparrison, In the Pug, above 55MPH, economy dropped below 47MPG on a constant readout from the computer, the higher the speed the lower the economy. My new Laguna after reseting the trip earlier today shot up to 67MPG on a 3 mile stretch at 65 MPH.I really cant grumble at all!Dan

Laguna 2 phase 2 1.9 Dci 130 BHP, 87,000 miles. Motorway 60/ dual 20/ town 20 %.
Computer regularly shows 50 - 55 mpg but if you check it yourself ( much more accurate ) its 48-50 mpg.
I am still happy with that as i don't hang around !

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I travel mostly on motorways and have achieved an average of 46.30 mpg over the last 100,000 miles.

The on board computer may indicate 55 mpg but the reality is 52 mpg on an 800 mile run.

Don't use it around towns!! Now you know why taxi drivers don't drive these cars!!

Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - Average MPG from 1.9 DCi Engine

I have seen quite a few used as taxis, my old 1.9l 120 used to give me 38mpg. now im driving a 2.0l 150 bhp getting 38mpg, but most my driving is on country roads and I like the loud pedal. Did do a motorway and country lanes run 75/25% and got 49 mpg. Both are tourers.
