Ok first thing to do if you find you cannot open the bonnet....

Method works for both Laguna I + Laguna II..

Whilst pulling on the lever - have a friend, wife, largish child, mistress, passer by etc etc etc - push down on the centre front of the bonnet..

This will over come all but the dreaded snapped cable..

Once open apply general purpose car grease to the catch mech and strike plate..

Or next time your at a friendly garage ask them if they could pop a little grease onto the bonnet catch for you..

Be catious not to enter the realms of unsubtle sexual inendo whilst requesting this "extra"..

Yes there are two cables on the Lag 1. The first come from inside the car to the right hand bonnet catch. Then the second runs from the righthand catch over to the left. They are relativley easy to get at once the rad is out!!!! As for taking out the grille and/or lights the bonnet needs to be open!!!!! There is some adjustment on the cables if you do succeed in getting the bonnet up though. Good Luck.

I've just had my bonnet fixed as the cable holders on both bonnet catches had broken off, leaving the cable dangling in the engine bay!!!
The only way in, after trying all sorts of ways, was to jack up the car and go in from the underneath. I got a mobile mechanic to sort it out as I wasn't too confident without the use of a ramp!!! He managed to work his arm around various engine parts and reached the nearside catch (the offside, he told me is pretty difficult, if not near impossible to get to). Fortunately, the link cable was still attached to the offside catch. With a bit of fiddling, he finally had the Bonnet open. All I need now is 2 new catches......beware of the price......40 each!!!!

Hope this helps
