Hello just seeing if anyone can help. Have Keyless entry on my new Laguna but its only works on the drivers door. Even though all the doors have the sensors. Have looked at the hand book several times but cant see how to turn it on. It just says walk up to any door.
Can it be turned on? Or will i always have to walk around the car if i
want to put somthing on the Passenger seat.
You need to get selective unlocking disabled by the dealer. The biggest hurdle is finding a dealer that will actually acknowledge that it can be done (it definitely can - there are several of us who have had it done.) The second hurdle is getting them to agree to do it under warranty rather than charging for the labour. Again, it can definitely be done.
Once selective unlocking is disabled you lose the feature entirely, even from the card. A single press of the button will unlock all of the doors and there's no longer a way to unlock the driver's door on its own.
Of course the reason that the system is set to only open the drivers door is for personnal safety. As there could be some dodgy character hiding out of veiw on the passenger side.
So you approach the car, all the doors open and the unwanted person is able to gain entry at the same time.
If only the drivers door opens, you can enter you car and then make the decision to open all the other doors to let you wanted passengers in..
I just noticed that you're on the Wirral. Lewis Reed did mine in the end (having been fobbed off by two other dealers.)
The system could have been designed to give us the best of both worlds. In most cases, it's handy to be able to open any door without using the card, but in a safety critical situation, it'd be useful if a single press of the remote button unlocked the driver's door and temporarily disabled the sensors on all of the others.
But the designers weren't quite that clever, so you have to decide which is your priority: security or convenience. In my case, having a child seat in the NSR passenger seat was pretty much the deciding factor. Your choices are to walk round to the driver's door, open it, lean in and press the button in the centre console (try that while holding a baby) or just rummage round in your pocket and find the keycard (also less than ideal with a baby in tow, and somewhat annoying when the car is supposed to be hands-free.)
It's also worth noting that the car doesn't deadlock when you walk away with the card. I imagine that's for safety reasons (you could inadvertently lock someone inside.) If you're leaving your car in a particluarly dodgy area, then it might still be worth deadlocking it using two presses of the lock button on the card. Note that this temporarily disables the handsfree system and you have to unlock with the card next time around.
I have the 2002 Laguna, if I give a single press on the key card just the drivers door opens, if I give a single press on the key card and hold it pressed for 2-3 seconds it unlocks all doors and the rear hatch. You could follow instructions in the handbook to change your keycard to work the same as mine to solve your problem
The upgrade to handsfree seem to cause more problems than it solves.
Thanks for that Horatio & Webcode - will go to Lewis reed next week. Only live a 2min walk from them but did not want to ask them in case I was being stupid.
Will look out for you Nicolidus. So if you see a Black Laguna flash you don’t give it the finger.

You realy are the knower of all things Renault. That being the case and you tell me if I could get away with having the ECU remaped by SP tuning without causing dammage to the turbo. I know that the remap causes the turbo waste gate to open at a higher pressure, thus creating greater BHP and fuel efficiency but will it cause the turbo to fail? (providing the correct oil is used I hope it does not as I had this service performed on my 307 110 HDI and I was hugley impressed with the results)
perhaps you can help me, new here, and new to renualt cars!
i have a renualt laguna initiale 1.9diesel 54 plate
when i go to the car, i have to press the lock button first on the fob, then the unlocking button. if i just press the unlock button, nothing happens. i have the two button fob by the way.
also, it locks sometimes by itself, and even when i am in the car! weird! the indactor lights flash several times when it does this. sometimes it locks when i close the door, and before i have opened the boot!
so is there something i need to do to settle the locking system down? or do i need to take it in for a repair of some sort?
any comments or suggestions welcome
sounds to me like you might have a faulty key fob which is a common fault.
The buttons become unattached from the circuit board inside, I had one that would lock the car but not unlock it.
They are sealed units but can be repaired, there is a guy on ebay that seems to get good results from his feed back.
A new card will cost you £ 150 +

i have a laguna II.2 INITIALE 2.0 dCi 150BHP 2007 bought in romania... the thing is that i activated deadlocking in the service... but it is not working as it supose to do .. at least i think.... when i press twice (or longpress) on the keycard the sidelights blink 4 times confirming deadlocking but the front doors can still be opened from inside...
can someone help me with this?.. should i do something else?... i saw in the "tester" software that there are several functions linking to the cars centrelised locking system...
I have anothe rproblem with my locks, both cards lock and dead lock without a problem. My problem, is that even though i have chaged the remote batteries, the cards don't always un-lock the car. No matter where i point the card around the car, i can be 15 minutes until the doors will un-lock. Other days, if i'm lucky, they open after about 5 times, if i press the lock button followed by the un-lock button!
Anyone got any ideas on this problem?
So as a technician, could you share with us how to enable all doors to unlock on keyless. I bought my car with this feature enabled and after disconnecting the battery it has reverted to just the driver door once again
Hi i have a 2002 laguna 1.9dci initiale sport tourer and just recently been having proplems with the central locking, the car opens fine when using the fob but when getting out the drivers door is the only door that unlocks were as before all doors unlocked, i have also noticed that my seat memory is not working all the time and i have linked both these problems to that when the door opens the lights on the door card dont work, but when the lights do work the problems gone, can anybody tell me if they have had this problem and if so how to repair it? also noticed my nsr door card lights not working also, please help!
Hi madnoel10 thanks for your reply, all my footwell lights front and back work and the door card lights on the nsf passenger and osr passenger doors work, if its a problem with that micro switch would not all the courtesy lights not work?
My missus owns a 2002 laguna, which is now playing up.
It has the 'key card' system.
I have searched hundreds of threads around the web. Problem is the key intermittently wont activate the ignition-only the radio (acc).
Doors unlock/lock as they always have, from miles away.
First time i try, it tends to work-ie light up all ignition lights..pull card out and put it back in - nothing.
Then ill wiggle gearstick for ages, push clutch in etc (I believe there are some microswitches that need to be in place) - oh-or is that just for starting?
Anyhow, i have had the card slot out, tried to clean it up-but does not seem to come apart...
Could it be the card slot? Like the ignition microswitch kind of unsticking itself overnight? Or the key?
I have left key in and disconn battery for 5 mins, but this has not helped.
I have put new batt in remote, which seems 100% ok. None of the web pages I have scoured seem to say that the key can malfunction regarding ignition, rather than switches breaking that open the doors.
Are there any basic checks I can do? Before going bankrupt going to main dealers?
Hope this is the right thread etc, and promise me-i have done some checking
Hi Folks,
I'm from Hungary and I have a problem with may handsfree open as well! I see, that's a realy old thread but never know!
The problem's is that, I have handsfree card reader and system in may 2001/06 Lag GT, but it doesn't work! When I lock the doors with lock+auto button everything looks OK as it's written is the manual, the side lamps still light for a few seconds after front and rear direction lamps turned off. But nothing happens when I try to open the doors with card in my pocket.
We tested all of the sensors with Renault DDT software and it indicated that all of the sensors are working properly. The system is activated in the software but it say (write) "The card presence is not perceptible!" As I know right the antenne is in the A column, I tried to keep the card as close as possible to the antenne, but the failure is the same. No card presence! Can you help me in this case or somebody come across with this problem earlier? Thank you!
