Laguna II alarm disable

Thankyou for all the replies, unfortunately I still can't get it to work. I never get any beeps.
My alarm is 7897/C.
However looking at the manual I may be using the wrong door (RH), it looks like I may need to use the LH (passanger) door, I will try this tonight.

dynamique - yes mine is the older model 7895 - which has no mention of having the door open. I would as the manual suggests for your 7897 model, i.e. keep the RHS door open. These diagrams are often produced for the European market - I think it most unlikely that you would have to have the LHS door open. Try it again - insert the card for 1 second or so (needn't wait for the SERV light to go off) and remove and do the same again. Close the door immediately (staying inside car) and lock just the once. You should now hear 3 (or possibly 4) blips rather than bleeps. It's possible you were outside the car when you tested in a noisy environment - the blips are not all that audible when heard from outside.

Just to update - I only get THREE beeps on our alarm and it doesn't matter if door is open or closed - still disarms sensors. We have the later 7897 series compact alarm.
Therefore, as usual take the instructions in the user manual as being pants.

Has anybody ever had a user manual for anything at all (car, video, tele, mobile phone) that is understandable, accurate and easy to follow. It's nowonder nobody bothers to read manuals unless they have a problem because 9 times out of 10 the manul is c**p.

It is not just Renault this time either, in fact the user manual for the car itself is one of the better ones ( doesn't say much I know).

Great posting guys - nice to see some other peeps helping each other out - if I get around to it I'll try and post a video link to this post showing how to disable the volumetric sensors..

Another trick would be the cover the sensors at the rear of the car with a msall piece of rag and an elastic band if your alarm is faulty and just will not disarm..

For what it's worth I did a little research and the 7897 is still only TC2 compliant (guess it fails on the lacking full "perimetric" as opposed to volumetric detection clause). See
Dynamique it looks like this model was issued from Jan-03 onwards so if you are still experiencing problems don't be shy and book this in to any main Renault dealer for diagnosis (assuming you aren't > 60K miles and kept it serviced in the network!).
