Hopefully someone will find the following information helpful.
We had a phone call from a customer with a 51 plate Laguna 2 1.9Dci saying that it wouldn't start.The engine would turn over but would not fire.When we got to him,some 20 minutes later,we put the card in,pushed the start button and it instantly started.......classic
Got the car back to the workshop,and to double check,ran an
code read,and Crankshaft Sensor fault was confirmed.(
sensor also called crankshaft sensor)
I think this maybe a slightly unusual type,as our local Renault dealer had to order one in(none in stock..).Wether they didn't keep one or they had run out due to high demand,I'm not sure!
The sensor is accessed by removing the engine undersheild and is mounted by one 10mm headed bolt to the front of the gearbox.One 2 pin electrical connector runs to it,which is clipped on.
Easy DIY repair,Genuine Renault part number of sensor is;
82 00 443 891
I didn't have chance to look at the paperwork,so sorry but I don't know how much it was.....
Car has started fine since sensor was replaced.(hope I haven't tempted fate....!)
Here are some pictures of said sensor.....
