wheel bearing fault or not?

Hi all, i've just returned from a 2000+ mile round trip with the car full a luggage, wife and 2 small children.
I seem to now have the familiar humming noise of a wheel bearing, kicks in at about 24mph.
Ive jacked each wheel up to check for any play in the bearing but there is no play at all in any of the wheels. Could the humming be something else?
Thanks in advance
