The handfree system can be re-configured by any dealer to "Non-selective" opening of the doors.. At present the system is set at "selective" opening..
It is nothing at all to do with insurance requirements.. !!
The Idea with the vehicle only opening the drivers door is for Personnal safety.
Think about it, you are in a dimly lit carpark.. You approach your vehicle, The vehicle opens your drivers door only, you get in.. safe and sound..
But you now have the vehicle configured as Non-selective opening..
You are in the same car park. You approach your vehicle, ALL the doors open, You then have an intruder able to enter from the passenger side..
The decision is yours..
As a foot note all Laguna II's are now being configured for Non-selective opening at the factory due to the negative customer feedback about this important safety system..
