Re: Hi speed cars..useable?
I remember circa 14 years ago, when I was driving the OH back from a day out in Largs.
The road was long, straight & clear, with 2 cars in front of me bimbling along @40 (in a 60).
I had 2 cars behind me, and had to drive on to Dundee, after dropping her off in Glasgow.
So I indicated, and pulled out for an easy overtake of both cars (I was in the Scorpio Cosworth, and never needed to kickdown to overtake).
Then just as I passed the first back-marker an oncoming car appeared out of a hidden dip in the road.
Instinctively, I floored it (car dropping 2 gears and surging forward from fifty to 'ahem' speed).
I completed the overtake (wouldn't be writing this today if I hadn't).
So for as much as people advocate cars being limited to 70, and 'speed kills' - I can quite honestly say that after having been at the sharp end of a dangerous situation, that it's inappropriate speed that kills, and I'd have happily taken my 3 points on the chin, if I'd been caught that day.
This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
