If you're concerned about poor starting in cold weather on an old battery etc it might be worth investing in one of those 'Booster Packs' like the garages use - I think they cost around 30 - 50
and they're quite compact so can live in the boot happily without getting in the way or losing charge.
The other sort is the smaller boost packs like the size of a cigarette box (should I have mentioned that ) which plug into the cigarette lighter. I've never used this type as I dont understand how plugging such a device into the cig lighter socket can get the charge through the circuitry to enable the engine to crank over
