The facelifted 2005 is supposed to have most of the bugs that plagued the original Laguna II ironed out. I read in a few places that Renault have gone to great lengths to improve reliability, but only time will tell.

Renault Dealer service is, in my personal experience, not as good as Mazda but significantly better than Ford or Vauxhall, though it all depends on the individual dealer. My Mazda dealer told me that they had to keep on their toes because Mazda had a habit of booking cars in for repairs themselves (though doing so under an individual's name) and then assessing the quality of the work afterwards. Dealers who failed to make the grade risked disciplinary measures, or even the loss of their franchise. Ford, Vauxhall and (to a degree) Renault could learn a lot from that.
Currently in Horatio's garage:
2010 Laguna III Initiale.
