Legal standing on buying privately

Afternoon all,

I am looking for some advice on if I have any legal rights from buying a faulty car privately?

I've bought a megane on Wednesday, and have since discovered that it has a loss of compression, an oil leak, faulty electronics and the need for a handbrake replacement. (The only fault I was aware of was the handbrake which he stated) the rest he hid!

I'm aware it's my fault for buying it, but as you can imagine, im devastated at buying and blowing all my car budget on what is effectively... Rubbish.

I know nothing about mechanics apart from to check the oil level, tyres, fluids etc so I bought it stupidly.

Do I have any legal rights to get my money back or am i screwed?

Ps apologies for writing in this area of the forum. Just realised how to do it in the correct area
