The only legal terms that cover a private sale contract are
the seller must have the right to sell the car the vehicle should match the description given by the seller
the car must be roadworthy it is a criminal offence to sell an un-roadworthy car and an MOT certificate from a test several months ago is no guarantee that the car is roadworthy today. from what I can see that's about it
Sounds like I don't have a leg to stand on huh!
His advert basically said in short
Renault megane for sale, good condition, smooth engine and gears. Handbrake may need adjusting.
He mentioned nothing of the
leak, compression issue, faulty electrics etc etc.
Looks like a very expensive lesson learned
