I would recommend that you get your turbo replaced aswell or get it repaired. The reason your intercoolers blown is because there is oil in there, come from the worn seal on the turbo . This has happend so many times where the intercooler gets replaced and the same thing happens again shortly after, but with a blown turbo , and it's scary when it does go
Did you hear any whistling or scraping noises when driving.
This is common problem on the 1.9 DCI sadly.
You will probably need a new intercooler, EGR Valve and Turbo .

Also, If the car is under guarantee then the dealers will pay for the replacment intercooler, they won't pay for the turbo as it's not blown yet. You need to fight for it though, have a search throught this forum, also give this a look at
