no its same piston, what you have is the pivot goes into the caliper and uses a cam to push the piston out to force the pads against to disc to apply the handbrake. when that pivot gets water ingress and rust it cannot always return properly which causes the pads to stick and your wheels to get hot as you basically driving with the brakes on all the time. you can free it off sometimes with gentle persuasion and penetrating oil but like said in previous post, it doesn't always work to satisfaction. all depends on how long it been like it.
