I think i have the same problem. after replacing the coils a number of times my car then started to stall seconds after starting. revs wouls go to 1000 then to 750 then 500 and then stall. i took the car to the only renault dealership where i live. they reprogrammed the car and after that was working perfect then low and behold just over a week ago its started again!!!! no i have to keep the revs high for it to not to stall the car starts shuddering and everytime i get to a junction bang there it goes again. not very happy as this is my baby and i still owe quite a bit on finance. any suggestions? my last bill at the dealership was heart breaking and just after xmas i could do without this. thanks in advance

Megane Stalling !!!

Hi all !!
I think my megane 54 plate sports tourer (posh for estate car ) has just developed the same problem as above.

The car never fails to start whether cold or hot, but 99% of the time the revs just drop straight off and the car stalls unless i give it a bit on the accelerator.

Interesting to hear your dealers response.

Have to decide my next move !!!!

first time in replying to a thread

hi to all !!!!

just reading the treads and i've had the same fault for a about a year now ......
it never got any better nor worse....

the car starts 99% first time and stalls....have resulted into
just giving it a bit of stick when starting ....

as for the the previous threads talking about rejecting the car its a waste of time unless it done in the first few days of ownership......

i have renault megane 2003 its my first and last brand new car....

The car developed a problem with the steering ... it was pulling to the right ....
i had the car back to the garage more than 10 time trying to solve the problem with no effect
the even drove it up to other garages to find the fault
they told me it was down to the camber of the road .....which i new that was a load of rubbish.

it got to me so bad that i picked a section of road to test this theory out......i drove down down one side then came back in the early hour and drove down the wrong side to settle my mind was the car not the road ...

i had the citizen advice involved who tested the car and found the same fault, who made a detailed report on it and sent it to renault customer services ....they didnt want to know .... they suggested to have an independent inspection on the car renault paid half towards the cost and i paid the other ......the full report came through and concluded that their was a fault but carefully worded it so they was not liable ........
i had meetings with the MD of the Reg Vardy about the car with no luck. they have no responsiblity in taking your car back its all with reault ...if they dont get the backing from them they cant do anything

as a last resort i went to a solicitor .... when he told me that because i have had the car for over a month then its technically mine i needed to reject the car within a certain time period and this period is not fixed or specified anywhere..... its a rule of thumb
choose which direction i decide to go quoting sales of goods act etc...the car is mine because of the time i had it

so the upshot of this is if you are going to reject a car it must be done within a few days of purchase.....

hope this help......

ok so i finally managed to take the car to the garage and they said to me it might be the tdc sensor.
after they tested it the found out the best thing to replace is tye cambelt sensor which so far so good. cost me 88 from a renault garage but in all fairness if you know where this sensor is then you could get the part for approx 28 and do it yourself (just need someone to rest the service light) failing this if the car messes up again they said its going to be the cembelt defuser (spelling) which done by a renault garage will cost approx 600 however this is because they have to replace items such as the cambelt and they also said depending on the year and millage of the car that renault would pay a small contribution to the costs. i would guess at around 10%-15% so not alot. Anyway fingers crossed it stays ok! good luck to anyone else out there with the same problem. happy driving
