Parts required:

* 82 00 079 020 - Surround switch (£7.42 from renault)
* 82 00 193 673 - Blank switch (Plug- £2.70 from renault)
* 82 00 107 841 - CC/SL switch (£15.75 from renault)

Optionally not needed if you use another four push-buttons for controlling CC
* 82 00 103 769 - car radio remote control (I bought a used on of these off ebay)

And from a electronics store, maplins-expensive, so preferably other..
*900ohm, 270ohm and 100ohm resistors (16p)
*half a meter of speaker wire (15p)
*solder and soldering iron (i alredy had these, i have a gas soldering iron as i find it easier in a car as you dont need extension cables, these are around £20)

From a diy store, for fixing the control in place, glue and optionally black silicone sealant.

And that's all you need.

Once you have all these parts your ready to go!

How to

Step one: You should swap the new parts from renault with the old ones, this is simple, like lego...lol just literally swap the cover and add the switch and blank switch and plug the new switch in..

-this isnt my photo but it shows what to do, but like ive said its like lego, youll see what to do when you remove the old and have the new there to compare..

Step two: Now I prepared the control, I chose to not modify the sterio control and so have function of increase speed, decrease speed and recall,its fine as you can cancel the cc by depressing clutch or brake..

Below are pictures, and diagram.
(Taken from Kmarty, thanks)

Modry = Blue
Zeleny = Green
Cerveny = Red
Hnedy = Brown
On the bottom of that picture are colors of wires in connector under steer (but they can be swapped):
Ruzovy = Pink
Hnedy = Brown

Its very simple,
1,you solder the resistors to the control as shown,
2,solder the other ends of the resistors together and solder these to one part of the speaker wire
3,solder the other part of the speaker wire to the control as shown,

These are my photos..

This leaves the other end of the speaker wire free and untouched.

Step three: The next step is to remove cover from around the steering wheel, there are 3 screws and then another 2 screws..
please see picture.

Step four: Now you find the two circled wires and carefully skim away some of the coating to reveal the copper, now the until now untouched end of the speaker wire. solder one part of the speaker wire to one of the wires and the other part to the other,

Please see photo.

Thats it, now the cc should function :)

Step five:the next step is to cut a slot in the steering wheel cover to allow fitting of control, see photo

Now in mine I have glued the control in place and filled the gaps with silicone sealant.

Job done,

Im also getting some transfers printed so I can label the control correctly as cruise control as I removed the print referring to stereo control.

Hope this is helpful, let me know if you need any advice... Im here to help!

Big thank you to every one who has provided me with info to do this, wouldn't have been possible without your help!

Dnno if this is in the right place... Maybe wothr going in the megane article section??

basically, set the speed you want, then no matter how heavy your fit you can't exceed that speed, :)
That isn't entirely true, as sometimes you need to accelerate out of trouble - you can still increase your speed, but the pedal does need a deliberate shove to respond.

Absolutely, it wasn't a criticism of your post, but I was a bit concerned that anyone reading the thread may think that buttons need pressing to disengage the system before the car will allow itself to be accelerated.

No worries,

No worries mate! :)

I don't use the speed limited thing, odd feature, not ever come across one like that before, in my experience they normally flash and beep when you exceed the chosen speed, apart from
This not experienced one that actually (partially) restricts your speed...

Hi, it's not at all essential to have the cc switched on..
However you can buy yourself a Renault clip, around £170 on eBay for a Chinese one and that's suitable to do it yourself.. Alternatively you can go to a decent auto electrician. They will charge for an hours labour, generally about £45. On another forum I suggested having a group buy of one of these clips an then sharing it round after each person has say a weeks use...

not been on here for a fair while.. you need to have the switch to turn it on and off but also a control to control the functions speed up slow down recall and cancel.. you can just buy these buttons from renault, i still have my home made control and would happily sell it as ive changed to the renault buttons..

Hi Folks,
1st off to the OP, a great find!!!
And an excellent little how to! I'm just about to wire this into my Coupe Cabrio and save some cash on the M'way miles :)
I just have 1 question, after its all wired in, what is the procedure to enable the CC Display ?
I will be getting a mechanic mate to do it(using Laptop and OBD connector), but I just want to know is there a specific menu or subset he needs to go to?
Just to save me some time ;)

Folks, I have this modification nearly finished :)
I have the CC switch installed, I have the resistors/stalk all wired up and the steering wheel surround modded for the stalk mount.
But i am having 1 little problem that is probably ridiculously simple but I dont want to just power into in case I mess it up!

How do I remove the cover behind the steering wheel?
I have removed and modded the housing immediately behind the steering wheel, but the cover over the socket that I need to attach the 2 wires to?
Ho do I gain access to this?
Do I need to remove the entire steering wheel?
Any help appreciated on this one :/
Thanks

To get the Steering column cowling off there are 2 to 4 T25/27 Torx screws clamping the two halfs together. have a look at teh underneath and you should find the holes they are located in.

if you have the connetors already fitted on the loom, just plug the cc/sl switch in and flick it on and the lights should come on automatically on the dash. if they do, then its simply a job of either doing the above mods or, swapping steering wheel(inc cc/sl controls), column neck with connector spool, accelerator pedal(with kick-down override), switches in control panel.

I can't find the plugs on mine, but when I put the car into test mode (when all the lights flash, speedo, rev and other gauges go through the motions) the cruise control light also lights up... does this mean I'm not looking for the plugs hard enough or would these light up in test mode anyway (as does the ESP).

PS, once in test mode, how do you get back out? I've tried this twice now and both time I've just had to let it get on with it until it came out by itself after 10 mins or so!

Were the two steering wheels basically the same? for instance could the cruisecontrol switches and shaped airbag be fitted to the standard noncruise steering wheel. I am just looking at the options for a retro fit on my CC, now that I know the connector is behind the dash.
