Hi everyone,

First post here :)

Quick question for you all. The g/f's Megane 2 went in for a service today but has to go back for a recall. Now I reckon it could be a lot of things (EGR valve, electrical)

Any ideas what the recall is? 1.9Dci Dynamique.

Have they not told you? I'm very suprised!

Could be anything - there is a known recall for faulty rear brakes for starters. but there is not much mention of any other recalls. Might be worth drilling your dealer for details? It might be under their warranty, but it's your Megane...

Thanks for the reply Mike.

The g/f did ask, but they fobbed her off.

Not too happy with the Megane really. Although it has a great engine (watch the EGR valve stick open now!!) Electrical niggles, 10,000 miles on the original Continentals on the rear! (I got Michelin Primacy on it now) A Moon roof and sensors that don't talk, doors that don't lock and a volumetric sensor that causes the alarm to go off when someone talks nearby has made it a problematic car.

Thanks for info so far.

Car hasn't gone in yet, so we still do not know what recall is for. I think it is down to poor customer service rather than trying to hide something.

I must admit, I gave the g/f a bit of abuse about the continentals as I have never known anyone to go through a full set of rubber before 10,000 miles!
They have now switched to Pilot Primacy and she has now covered an additional 17,000 with no problems whatsoever with no additional work (to my knoweledge) Just a straight swop from Conti to Michelin. I have apologised to the missus :)

I have always gone for Pilots on my "work" car as I can get at least 30,000 from the fronts. Yoko's on my "weekend" car ;)

Thanks for that Meganeman. I think it must be the same recall as yours. We will find out on Monday as it is booked in for then. Also we are having a suspension strut replaced under warranty and also the usual sensor cleaning in the moonroof as it has a tendancy to say "non" when we try and close it.

It does make me laugh when the Scenic advert (the scenic dog) comes on tv with the windows opening and closing all the time. I wonder if they really know that there cars do that as standard!!!

As I keep saying though, great engine as long as the EGR valve doesn't get stuck!

Provided you change the oil regularly (I do not agree with 18K changes), use good quality fully synthetic, and give the engine a good thrashing from time to time, I can see no reason why you should worry about the EGR valve.

I believe Renault dealers are being issued with a a new tool to check these valves, although I can't confirm this definitely.

This is NOT a recall.. It is a Technical improvement..

A recall is exactly that.. and will be Safety related.. in which case the manufacturer contacts the owner and requests that they attend a dealer ASAP to have some rectification work done on the vehicle..

The work that is required on the Megane II is an addition of a Retaining clip for the Electric window regulator cable sheath.. It is to stop the regulator failing early in its life..

The work will only be carried out when the vehicle is next taken to a dealer for service or repair.. Or if you request that it is carried out as you now know that the improvement exists..

Hi all,

I was reading through this thread with some interest as I have been having problems with the electric windows on my Megane II sport 2006. The passenger side window stopped working 6 months ago, makes no noise when operated, just acts like its not getting power.

The working windows often refuse to open or close completely with one touch or by holding the button up or down. They will only move an inch or two and have to press the button 7 or 8 times to open or close the window completely.

Could this be something to do with this recall / improvement that may not have been carried out on my car? If not, any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Marcus if you wind the window all the way up and hold it for 10secs then all the way down and hold it down for 10secs this will reset the window limits and stop the inching problem!

The other window may be stuck because the window regulator is broken. Here is how i fixed my driver side one!

Hope this helps :d

Hi,
same problem as everyone here window regulator goosed went to Bury Renault today who informed me that renault would foot 75% of the cost of the repair, they would only offer that info if pressed, however the window motor/regulator must be reattached to the car so that their mechanics can then take it off again!!!! where's the logic in that and what on earth do you do in a rainstorm when your window sticks in the down position?? well common sense says you put the window in the up position and wedge the window closed, whilst in there you may as well detach the offending window motor/regulator no??? well renault are just being asses to my mind to add insult to injury the girl behind the service desk then informed me with a smile on her face that my car was 10 days outside of warranty and renault would not be able to do the work on my window!!!! apparently this is a very very common problem and renault have known about it since day 1 but have not got the decency to inform owners of this issue, presumably because the less they publicise it the less money they will have to fork out on repairs to a known issue. I have established that the motor is fine but I need the 6 pin anti pich module that sits on top of the motor has anyone on the forum got a working 6 pin anti pinch module for fron passenger side window please???

Well Well Well,
2 weeks ago my front passenger side window regulator gave up the ghost so knowing of the problems with megane II window regulators I rang renault on their 08000 number (note it is not a freephone 0800 number)
after going through all the questions my "advisor" put to me "harold" (prob false name!!) informed me that my vehicle had 95,000 miles on it (so What) and that I was 10 days out of warranty for the window regulator repair to say I was not impressed would be an understatement
The motor is fine it works it is just the control box (regulator) that sits on top of the motor that is goosed. So I am busy trying to find a 6 pin anti pinch regulator for my Renault megane II 1.9 dci 5 door with no luck they are like rocking horse **** then guess what on wednesday the drivers door window decides to stick in the down position with no movement at all on the window!!!! so both of the fuc^&*(£ things are now dead never never again will I buy anything remotely connected with the french I have had vauxhalls, nissans, toyota's in the past with more miles on than this megane and everything has worked on those vehicle so how can renault say that it is wear and tear when their competitors can get things to work and stay working for 150,000 miles plus?? so if anyone knows of a repair or a breakers that has actually got these in stock I would be eternally greatful!!!!
