Re: Setting Your Key Plip

When i first got my R Reg 97 Megane i had two keys, but only one worked. (IR Plip Locks)

What I discovered was. The IR Diode had come unsoldered, Iím not surprised after looking at the casing mounting. (this can be checked with any digital camera, pressing the button on the remote with it aimed down the lenses, should produce a small red light)

However the reprogramming took me a while longer to figure out.

Firstly Iíve avoided Renault main dealers, like the plague.

However i still required my code as above,

What i can across was the site below, which will allow you to download a utility to woke out your car code. FOC
************************************************** **
Use at your own risk (Iíve treed and tested this and it works for me though) :
************************************************** ***
Download the utility, and you require the code from the back of your key (diagram on site shows where this is)

And your car type (on the sticker indie the door in my case) there is a generic list of these e.g. a Renault Megane 1 Hatchback is BA0E.

Put both of these into the program and it will give you the 4 digit code.

Then follow Leeboís instructions.
The only thing i found was i have to blip both keys in one run, as repeating the procedure will un code the other for some strange reason.

(the instructions i now carry with me in my car Ė my code)
************************************************** ***
To disable immobiliser in an emergency:
Unlock with key
Key in ignition,
Hold central lock button till immobiliser light goes to slow blink,
Release when it makes the first number, then hold again for second etc until all four are in
Car should now start

If the sync has been lost do as above,
Remove key,
Hold central lock button, immobilise light should stay on.

Blip the ir sensor until car locks and unlocks and repeat with the other key.
************************************************** ***

Re: Setting Your Key Plip

Help Please.... i have 98 megane cabriolet with a working perfect key but i am trying to program a spare but having no success i have 2 other keys 1 was a old 1 that used to work with this car but wont reprogram but infrared led works using a camera, but however i have just got another 1 off ebay (used) and it wont program either. i tried programming with the code all ways i have read about. But something i need confirming is that i can reprogram a key from another on to mine or does it have to be a new key.
ps my current working key seems to reprogram itself.
Any suggestions or answer to whether anyone have successully programed a used key before.. Thanks Col.

Re: Setting Your Key Plip

First of all I am new here so hello to everyone!
My original key was damaged as the Red diode? had come away from the key PCB. I origianlly resoldered it and all was fine eventually it came away again an I retried this time unsucessful resolder job, And broke one of the two fine wires that comes from the diode Anyone her fancy a go
I can start the car with the emergency code, Reanult charged me £68 to say they had mended the key, Only to find out that they had given me the 4 digit code, Which I had originally obtained via this forum anyhow! I have a key off ebay but I cannot get it to synch with the car, Got to the stage where you prees the fob 3 times within 1.5 seconds, but still no luck! I am in Bradford, West Yorkshire and would not mind travelling an hour or so If someone could help me with this. Could also do with a rear passenger door inner locklatch asembly? As that as packed up also. Hoping someone on here can help?

Best wishes Andy.
