I'm getting this sloshing too, on my V '99 1.6 Sport Alize Megane, but she's also over-heating, and going through coolant at a heck of a rate.

Are the two linked?

I had error light come on on Saturday, and the temperature needle was nearly at max - I cranked up the heater, as I couldn't pull over, and was only a mile from my destination. But little or no heat came through - it turned out she had boiled dry. My dad filled her up, after she cooled down, but it bubbled, and went down, and bubbled, and went down - she took over 6 pints.

She's running ok, but she's still drinking lots.

I can't afford to take her to a garage until the end of the month, but I need her for a trip tomorrow.

There's no sign of steam coming from her exhaust, nor from the cap on the water reservoir. I don't know where the head gasket is, so I wouldn't know where/how to check that.

I've checked her oil , via the dipstick, but not via the filler cap - will check that tomorrow morning.

Any other pointers?

Doesn't sound good to me

Could be the head gakset, but also the water pump could be knackered... But if its boiled all the coolant then chances are (if you hadn't before) you have now cooked the head gasket too Get the car to a garage and have it compression tested.

Fiongers crossed its not bad bad news

other sloshing noises

we had a water sloshing noise , the sloshing noise was only there upon applying brakes when the car was moving, it was a sound of water rushing to the front of the car , the sloshing noise was located at the passenger side near the floor ..

turned out that the passenger side cill was full of water and a quick fix was to pop out the rubber grommet at the front of the sill and park the car facing downwards on a hill, there must have been over a gallon of water in the cll......... result sloshing noise gone ..

just thaught id share this story with yous , you never know , your sloshing noise may just be as simple as that.

Does anyone have a pic of the bleed valve on a 2001 Renault Megane Authentique. I have looked high and low and can't find it anywhere. So a picture would be very helpful.
