The reason for not soldering is purely to stop the heat conducting along the cable to the sensor which will ruin it.
I happened to do this to a Peugeot 405 a few years ago!
Almost certainly some kind of semiconductor device so yes there is some risk of heat damage if soldering. I have soldered a lot of transistors and some chips, all having exactly the same risk of heat damage, nevertherless they have
to be soldered. The answer is, do it as quickly as possible. If taking longer than 2 - 3 seconds, take the iron off and let it cool down, then try again.
If it has long wires, even better! Much reduced risk of excessive heat conducting up the wire.
